Last week I attended a replay of Leadercast, a terrific leadership growth opportunity. As is typical, the day was filled with inspiration, this year around the theme of “The Brave Ones.”

The first speaker of the day was communicator, author and pastor Andy Stanley. Among his many key points on bold leadership, there are two in particular I’d like to share here.

1 – What do you believe is impossible to do in your field, but if it could be done would fundamentally change the industry?

You have great ideas. You know other smart people. They want to change the world. If your idea is truly revolutionary, people will latch on to it with you. They will help you figure it out.

There are so many technologies, ideas, plans in place now that just a few short years ago would have been thought impossible. In reality, an idea is only impossible until someone, some team, some company makes it possible. Why not you? Your team? Your company? Why not now? Be bold. Be brave!

2 – Does your schedule prevent you from leading?

Ouch, right? I know I’ve experienced this in the past. Too many meetings, conference calls, reports to write, reports to read, projects to track, and problems to solve. While I was very busy doing, I was not necessarily leading.

What really needs your attention and leadership? Are you giving that thing your time and energy or is it being zapped by other things? What changes can you make so your schedule supports your leadership instead of compromising it? Be bold. Be brave!
